“Many people say, ‘Who will show us better times?’ Let your face smile on us, Lord. You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.” Psalm 4:6-8
Joy and peace and safety are found in the light of His smile alone. You can ask for this smile of light and lumination. Ask right now.
A glow of happiness can be kindled in your heart, like the bright morning sun. This word for “smile” in the original Hebrew means “illumination in every sense, including lightning and happiness. Bright, clear day, morning, sun.” It comes from a Hebrew root word that means “to be, cause, make luminous, both literally and metaphorically (I think as Christians we often think this is only metaphorical), break of day, glorious, kindle, be light, enlighten, give light, show light, lighten, lightened, set on fire, shine.
This is the same Hebrew word for “light” or “shine” or “smile” being used in Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face SHINE upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
His smile does what no one or nothing else can. He shines on us, lighting us up with fullness of joy. I pray that you walk in the certainty and knowledge and truth and faith of this kind of light. I pray that you walk out the bright, glorious wholeness bought for you at Calvary and easily see His goodness in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13), on this side of Heaven. Know that He smiles on you. Know that the only “more” in your life that will cause bright joy and peace and safety….is more Jesus. Knowing Him better.
We are like little moons reflecting our sun.
